Tamar Labels installs third Edale press
Tamar Labels of Tavistock, Devon, UK, has purchased a second Edale Beta 330 modular flexo press. Edale claims that the Beta boasts versatile and innovative features which allow the press to be used in a wide range of industries including security and technical applications. The machine specification Tamar Labels has purchased is a Beta 330, with eight flexographic print stations, equipped with UV drying supplied by GEW, for a wide variety of products including roll and sheet labels to supported film and cartonboard conversion.
Tamar Labels now owns two Edale Betas and the first Edale Sigma shaftless press. This steady growth in Edale machines had mirrored Tamar Labels own growth since the company was formed in 1996. In 2002 Tamar Labels invested in a new 10,000ft2 high risk, clean room environment, production facility and in 2002 achieved BRC-IOP (B) accreditation. Tamar Labels initially focused on the food label and packaging market and identified the potential for servo control on presses as being a way to give a high level of control and quick changeover between jobs; this led to the first Edale Sigma being installed in November 2002 to add to the Beta eight color installed two months earlier.
In 2003 Tamar Labels diversified into non-food and specialized products. The introduction of digital print and conversion followed. The diversification has worked full circle with the latest purchase and installation of the second Beta which replaced some older Edale 250 presses. With this expanding success Alan Jones, MD at Tamar Labels, states that Tamar Labels is a ‘narrow web converter in the truest sense and is now supplying supported and unsupported product in reel, sheet and singles to diverse markets.’
Tamar Labels’ successful partnership with Edale has been a determining factor in the decision to purchase a second Beta as Alan Jones explains: ‘The Sigma has performed near faultlessly since installation. Considering it was a totally new development, this was a big deciding factor behind the purchase of the second press.’
