UK printer opts for Mark Andy Scout
East Midlands, UK-based Advance Labels has installed its first modular label press, a Mark Andy Scout. The new 10” 6-color flexo line has brought reliability and print quality that belies its simplicity, according to Advance’s David Gregory: ‘This investment is a major step forward for a business like ours because it is normally only seen by the larger printing groups and companies. We can now offer the same high quality labels without the overheads of many of our competitors, and being a family run business we offer faster turnarounds, competitive pricing and are committed to customer service satisfaction,’ he commented.
The new Mark Andy Scout is said to offer faster set up and change over of jobs than Advance’s existing technology, and consequently increases output capacity without additional staffing. Gregory added: ‘The printing industry has changed over the years and with the decline in UK manufacturing our print runs have become shorter, but the demand for faster turnarounds and specialized work has increased. The new Scout allows us to meet these service requirements with high quality specialized work.’
Advance Labels was founded 25 years ago. The company employs eight staff in its 5,000 square foot facility in Syston, near Leicester, and in addition to both water based and UV flexo printing, offers litho and digital techniques. Coinciding with the installation of the Mark Andy is an investment in a new Aqua Flex Plate Making System. Solvent free, it increases the number of plates the company is able to produce each day, which is vital as demand for more variable printing continues to rise.
