Abbey Labels joins Asteria
Suffolk label converter becomes part of Asteria Group.
Asteria Group has acquired Abbey Labels, the Suffolk-based self-adhesive label converter founded by the Allum family more than 50 years ago, which now joins the group's UK operations.
Peter Allum founded the business in the early 1970s as a family printing company, and it grew into a UK specialist in self-adhesive labels under the leadership of his son Tom and the Allum family. Abbey Labels now produces more than half a billion labels a year. It offers digital and flexo printing for short and long runs, peel-and-reveal and multi-layer labels, and specialist finishing and decorative embellishments, on a wide range of materials.
The company holds AA BRC certification and ISO 14001 environmental management certification, and Asteria says its investment in production technology is designed to improve resource efficiency and cut waste. Asteria says this fits its ambition to become a sustainable frontrunner in the European label and packaging industry by 2030. Abbey's capabilities complement Asteria's existing UK operations, giving the groups room to share expertise and widen their offering.
'Abbey Labels has built an excellent reputation over more than 50 years and we are delighted to welcome the team to our Asteria Group family. Abbey's strong digital and flexographic capabilities provide further opportunities to create even more value for customers. We look forward to building on the foundations established by the Allum family and supporting the next stage of the company's growth,' said Ives Declerck, CEO of Asteria Group.
In August, Asteria Group acquired Dutch label maker GT Etiketten and UK-based Merian Labels in June 2026.
