The first impression of Labelexpo Europe

Herma’s charity bike ride team cycled all the way from Newbury, UK, to Labelexpo Europe in Brussels, Belgium, to arrive just before the show kicked off. Douglas Emslie, group managing director at Tarsus Exhibitions and Publishing and Roger Pellow, chairman of the Tarsus Labels Group, welcomed the riders at the front of the main entrance of the tradeshow hall. The show officially opened with Lisa Milburn, managing director for Tarsus Labels Group delivering a keynote presentation to a room full of international labels and packaging editors.

The venue was buzzing with running machines in each hall. Exhibitors geared up to greet visitors at the biggest labels show ever. Spread across seven massive halls, each bigger than the size of a football field, Labelexpo Europe 2013 has had the largest number of new launches and global announcements in its 33 year history. The serpentine queue at the registration desk and the packed stands are witness to a great response on the first day. The visitors poured in from across the world to witness the magic. Prominent international players such as HP Indigo, Epson and Screen Europe announced the launch of their latest products for the labels industry. This includes HP Indigo’s digital print options and new silver metallic ink, Epson’s new SurePress L-6034VW single pass digital label press and PrecisionCore technology and Screen Europe’s unveiled high speed Truepress L350UV digital press that optimizes workflow for label production with Screen EQUIOS.

The industry’s latest technologies are displayed on the show floor; the one that caught the most attention amongst others is the UV LED ink curing process demonstrated by several exhibitors including GEW, Flint and Siegwerk. Most exhibitors were seen busy throughout the day with the continuous inflow of inquiries from the event’s visitors.
