Tracing your corporate roots

There have been a number of big birthdays to celebrate in the label printing market and related industries recently, such as celebrations for Omet and Prati, who reached 50 and 40 respectively.
Tracing your corporate roots

But for Spanish paper mill J. Vilaseca, 2014 marks its tercentenary – its 300th birthday.

This milestone has come about as it can trace its roots back to 1714 and the establishment of Cal Mata.

That’s a long history, and one that has traversed a number of important developments in the label and package printing markets, including Vilaseca’s own evolution since the mid-20th Century into a company offering a range of fiber-based materials for different applications, such as wine labels.

I’m sure there are many other companies out there with a long and established corporate history, and while they don’t have to be as long as that of Vilaseca, it is always good to hear about a company’s roots all the way up to its modern day iteration.

That’s why I’m looking forward to visiting one or two companies this year that I know are celebrating their birthdays in 2014.

If you’ve got a big anniversary to celebrate this year, or next, keep us posted at [email protected] and I look forward to celebrating with you.
