Label Academy interest soars

Label Academy has seen nearly 2,500 people register for the global training and certification program for the label and package printing industry since its launch last year.

The History of Labels publication supports the growing number of Label Academy titles

Label Academy, created by Mike Fairley, was officially launched at Labelexpo Europe 2015 having been introduced at Labelexpo Americas 2014. Label Academy is to help deliver a large program of educational content at Labelexpo Americas 2016 through allied master classes.

Since its introduction, considerable work has been undertaken to write and commission new book titles, and to further develop the website and build the online examination process. A new title – Label Embellishments and Special Applications – is to be published shortly, and two further titles are in the design and production stages. It is planned to have some nine of the Label Academy handbooks on sale at Labelexpo Americas in Chicago later this year, and it is hoped that the initial proposed series of 20 titles will be completed by the end of 2017.

The website, www.label-academy.com, contains a synopsis of each published book along with related links to articles, video clips, white papers, supplier information and more.

Increasing numbers of label company employees have been taking the Label Academy online examinations, with some individuals now able to claim successful passes and certification in up to five subjects.

‘Built into annual appraisal and employee development programs, the Academy certification process is already beginning to prove its worth in developing the industry and its employees for the future, commented Fairley.
