technotrans strengthens management and service team

technotrans has strengthened its management and service team with the appointment of Phil Eates as its new service manager.

‘I was looking for a new challenge and I like the fact this is a business-to-business role serving both groups and independent companies’ - Phil Eates

Eates, who will report directly to managing director Peter Benton, has joined the company from outside of the graphic arts industry. Previously, Eates was at Johnstons Sweepers in Dorking, which supplies road sweepers to both businesses and public bodies. There, he was part of a customer service team as contracts manager.

‘I was looking for a new challenge and I like the fact this is a business-to-business role serving both groups and independent companies,’ explained Eates. ‘Service management skills are the same irrespective of the industry. I believe we can further develop our maintenance contracts business and there are processes we can implement and training we can introduce that will enable us to do things even better than before.’

technotrans specializes in press peripherals, supplying cooling systems for digital and litho presses, inking systems, filtration products and water treatment. In recent years, the company has diversified and increased its range of services and extended into new markets. It is also working with design engineers to project manage cooling systems from concept stage through to sellable product. One area it is especially targeting currently is plastic injection moulding, following the acquisition of a major shareholding in gwk.

‘We have enjoyed a growth in service and maintenance agreements and so it is right that we invest and create this role to further improve our overall performance,’ said Benton. ‘Phil is experienced in service and especially maintenance and he will develop our processes and performance and be a real asset on the management team.’
