On International Women’s Day, Parkside has used its own success as an example of what can be achieved when the packaging industry provides women with a platform to excel in senior leadership roles.

The flexible packaging innovator has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and recently announced a global management restructure which elevated several women within the company.

The resulting promotion of Paula Birch to managing director was evidence of what female talent can achieve in the company, as she completed a journey that began when she started at Parkside as an account executive 25 years ago.

‘We know packaging is a traditionally male-dominated industry, and we are proud to buck this trend with 70 percent of our senior leadership team being women,’ said Birch. ‘We hope to use days like International Women’s Day to prove what is possible when women are given a platform to show what they can do for packaging companies. We’re proud to draw on the strength, creativity, and passion of some of the most talented women in the industry across every department of our company.

‘Our diversity is our strength, and we would not have enjoyed the success we have seen in recent years without fostering a culture where employees from all backgrounds can enrich our company with their diverse skills and perspectives. This means we’re able to continually drive our innovation capabilities to new heights for our customers.

There is always more we can do in the packaging sector and society as a whole to give women the opportunities their skills deserve. But right now, we want to take a moment to celebrate the amazing women who have helped to make Parkside what it is today.’
