Falconer upgrades Heidelberg technology

Falconer Print & Packaging has upgraded its Prinect workflows and added a new Suprasetter A75 computer-to-plate (CtP) device and a refurbished Speedmaster SX 52-5 UV press.

A refurbished Heidelberg Speedmaster SX 52-5 UV press will run alongside an existing Speedmaster CD 74 and both machines will be fed plates from the new Suprasetter A75 with dual cassette loader

Falconer Print & Packaging produces packaging for the pharmaceutical, health, cosmetics, luxury gifts and drinks markets. It celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

The company has upgraded its Prinect workflows to version 17 to reduce make-ready times and enhance the feedback from the pressroom. The production workflows are linked in to the company’s Shuttleworth MIS. It will link in the Speedmaster SX 52, which is currently being installed. This press will run alongside an existing Speedmaster CD 74; both machines will be fed plates from the new Suprasetter A75 with dual cassette loader.

Of the refurbished press, Falconer Print & Packaging managing director Richard Martin commented: ‘It is a five-year-old press with 20 million impressions and it has been deep cleaned so looks brand new. This B3 press will mop up our short run work. We needed litho quality and the smaller sheet size.’
