Highcon Beam to deliver end-to-end digital workflow at colordruck

Germany’s colordruck Baiersbronn has ordered a Highcon Beam digital cutting and creasing system to complement its digital packaging production capabilities, including an HP Indigo 30000 digital press.

Beam was introduced earlier this year by Highcon

colordruck Baiersbronn, a 62-year-old family-owned folding carton packaging company, carried out rigorous testing of the Highcon Beam to ensure that it could meet their customers’ needs in terms of quality, efficiency and reliability.

Beam was introduced earlier this year by Highcon, as reported here, offering productivity of up to 5,000sph and quality that matches analog cutting and creasing. It can handle a wide range of substrates, including carton board and labels, in a B1 format (42 in).

The Highcon Beam will be housed in a purpose-built, highly automated 3,000 sqm digital packaging facility, where the HP Indigo 30000 digital press is already in operation and a Landa S10 digital printing press is to be installed in due course.

Frank Büsching, managing director, colordruck Baiersbronn, said: ‘The addition of the Beam with its high productivity in a completely digital process, will ensure a true end-to-end digital workflow. We will be able to offer our customers new products with rapid time-to-market, as well as produce customized or personalized packaging from small runs to mass customization.’

Jens-Henrik Osmundsen, Highcon vice president of global sales, added: ‘The adoption of the Highcon digital technology by an industry leader like colordruck Baiersbronn is a great seal of approval for us.  The ability of the Highcon Beam to handle both analog and digitally printed sheets will help it eliminate the bottlenecks currently caused by conventional die-cutting for short runs or customization.

‘We believe that by partnering with Highcon colordruck Baiersbronn will not only gain a competitive advantage in the near future, but also help to shape the future of Highcon's technological capabilities.’
