Imprimerie Bidoit invests in QuadTech technology
French label printer Imprimerie Bidoit has installed the QuadTech Color Control System with SpectralCam, which it said is allowing it to offer customers improved print quality and automated color control across a variety of label substrates.

Based in Cognac, south-west France, Imprimerie Bidoit specializes in providing labels to large French Cognac and wine houses. Owned by the Inessens Group – one of France’s top three printing groups in the wine and spirits labeling industry – the company works with some of the industry’s biggest names such as Hennessy and Rémy Martin, as well as all the wine regions across France.
Inessens Group first contacted QuadTech at the end of 2014 as it sought to achieve regular and more efficient color control as part of a Gallus press it was looking to acquire at the time. It was experiencing high levels of waste due to off-line color control as well as lengthy delays, due to the manual process of checking live print samples from the print run by hand. The QuadTech Color Control System with SpectralCam compares color accuracy to desired targets –in-line, during the print run – and detects any variation. If any problems are found, the system automatically corrects the problem without the need for operator intervention.
Inessens now has QuadTech Color Control Systems installed on five of the presses at its Cognac site, running three Gallus and two Nilpeter presses, and will also install the same system on its latest Gallus press, which is due for delivery in the third quarter of this year. In addition, the same QuadTech systems are installed on five other presses at the Imprimerie Roy plant in Chassagne Montrachet in eastern France.
QuadTech said the introduction of its automation technology has already resulted in around 15 percent time savings during the make-ready stage at Imprimerie Bidoit.
‘We are delighted with the new QuadTech systems,’ commented Sébastien Garaboeuf, director of the Imprimerie Bidoit factory. ‘Now our colors are consistent from the beginning to end of the print run. We are achieving higher quality with less waste on a variety of labels and substrates. Our operators can now record the parameters of color requirements and save time for the next run, this has been particularly useful when working with short run jobs, removing the need to re-set colors. Not only has this automation given us advantage over the competition, but it shows customers and new prospects that we are a company committed to absolute color consistency.’
Kris Desmet, regional sales manager at QuadTech, commented: ‘We are very pleased that the Inessens Group continues to choose QuadTech to help improve its business operations. With brands demanding ever better quality print and improved color consistency throughout the print run, we’re delighted that our technology is helping to achieve these goals and giving businesses like Imprimerie Bidoit a much better advantage in an already competitive industry.’
