Dhirendra Rawat, director at Marks Print, said: ‘We invested in a slitter rewinder six months back and chose to invest in an inspection system now to cater to multi-national companies. We did not have a choice as we were driven by the demand from brand owners.’

Sudhir Samant, consultant at Multigraph Machinery Company, agreed: ‘There is an increased demand of inspection equipment compared to just a few years ago. The Indian market is trending towards higher quality and defect free labels.’

Mark Print is a commercial printer and invested in its first 8-color 370mm wide used Gidue press six months ago. It’s catering to cosmetics, liquor and pharmaceutical industries in central India, and is targeting exports into east Africa by next year.

The company is evaluating further expansion into labels with a new flexo press and a UV inkjet press next year. ‘We have entered a growing industry and are confident of breaking even in the next three years. So, we will invest in sophisticated machines in the next financial year.’ Alongside, Rawat is also looking at investing in pre-press to further grow his business.

‘Label printing has helped my commercial printing business to grow as these complement each other. We may expand into folding cartons as well to become a one stop shop for our customers,’ Rawat added.

Currently operating out of a 12,000 sq ft facility, Marks Print will invest in new factory space in a government approved industrial space in Indore for its expansion.
