Nilpeter FA-Line press gets installed in South Africa

Nilpeter’s agent in South Africa, CSM Machine Sales, assisted long-time partner Uniprint, now First Impression, with company relocation to its new site in Durban where they also completed the installation of a new 17-in Nilpeter FA-Line press.

Negotiations with First Impression, a part of the the Hirt & Carter Group, started in September 2018 when they reached out to CSM in need of assistance with moving and re-installing both Nilpeter and other auxiliary equipment. Furthermore, these talks also included and resulted in the acquisition of a new 17-in FA-Line press, and planned equipment upgrades of First Impression’s existing Nilpeter presses.

‘The CSM team turned out to be extremely diligent, and as far as I am concerned, they met all my requirements and deadlines, sometimes under trying conditions, and were more than willing to put in extra hours over weekends to meet them,’ said Vaughan Cumming, production director, First Impression.

The move itself took place on May 18, 2019, with riggers, engineers, pallets, trucks and more called into action. The installation of the new 10-colour FA-Line press, with many value-adding features, followed suit and went to program, commissioned by CSM, with training via Nilpeter’s Kevin Knudson.

‘Everything went according to plan, and more importantly, the new press runs like a dream,’ Cumming concluded.

Planned upcoming upgrades of First Impression’s existing Nilpeter presses includes turning their 8-colour FA-Line press, installed in June 2018, into a 10-colour mirror image of the new 17-in FA-Line press. This process will commence once market conditions and order flows allow it. Still to be completed are software and unit upgrades of First Impression’s older Nilpeter equipment.

First Impression produces pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, and wraparound labels. The company has global accreditations from ISO, FSC and PrintSecure.
