Universal Labels & Packaging buys fourth MPS flexo press

Rotocon, a provider of consulting and service to South Africa label converters in the narrow web industry, has confirmed another MPS press sale to Universal Labels & Packaging.

MPS EF multi-substrate flexo press

An MPS EF 430 flexo press was ordered through Patrick Aengenvoort, director of Rotocon, marking the fourth MPS investment for Universal Labels & Packaging, one of the largest privately-owned label printers in South Africa.

The MPS EF is a high-quality and highly automated multi-substrate flexo press, designed for label and flexible packaging production on thin unsupported film or thick cartonboard.

Brett Prawde, CEO of Universal Labels & Packaging, commented: ‘It is always a pleasure to invest in another MPS press. This will be our fourth, and I guarantee not our last. Over the past 15 years we have built a strong and most importantly honest relationship with MPS that can be counted on, which these days is rare. We look forward to turning on another great press and running it – a flat out.’

In addition to MPS presses, Universal Labels also buys its flexible dies, print cylinders and rotary dies through Rotocon.

In 2014, Universal Labels & Packaging and Labelpak joined forces, bringing together two of Johannesburg’s longest-established label printing companies. Operating 16 printing presses including digital, offset and flexographic in a modern 8,000 sqm manufacturing facility in Midrand, Universal Labels & Packaging produces self-adhesive labels, wraparound labels, in-mold labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, sachets and tags, with a primary focus on the FMCG market.
