Walki opens new production line in Finland

The new production unit in Walki’s Valkeakoski plant in Finland has made the first deliveries to customers, who are benefitting from technology allowing ‘meticulous’ quality control.

The new production line at the Valkeakoski plant has been specified in order to respond to growing demand for multilayer laminates

Walki is a leading producer of technical laminates and protective packaging materials, specializing in the production of fiber-based, intelligent, multilayer laminate products for markets ranging from energy saving construction facings and construction membranes to barrier packaging applications. The group has plants in Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, Russia and China.

The new production line at the Valkeakoski plant, as initially reported here, has been specified in order to respond to growing demand for multilayer laminates, particularly in the construction business, although it will be highly flexible and able to cater to several different product segments, such as consumer packaging and the pharmaceutical industry.

Kari Salminen, executive vice president, Construction at Walki, commented: ‘The technology in the production line enables us to meticulously control the quality of the runs. Every single data parameter from every run is stored, which enables us to go back and track changes.’
