BST and Voyantic partner on RFID inspection

BST and Voyantic have partnered to deliver integrated 100 percent quality assurance for smart RFID labels. By combining BST’s TubeScan inspection system with Voyantic’s Tagsurance 3 technology, manufacturers and converters can now perform both visual inspection and RFID functionality testing within a single quality control workflow.
 
The cooperation closes a critical gap in RFID production. While conventional inspection systems typically focus on either print quality or RFID performance, the partnership ensures that both the visible and invisible aspects of every RFID label are verified before delivery.
 
This is increasingly important as faulty RFID labels can lead to costly complaints, production delays and rework. Missing or misplaced inlays, insufficient RFID performance, or incorrect data encoding often remain undetected until products reach the customer, where correction requires significant time and expense.
 
The integrated technology combines RFID quality control, data encoding and data verification with 100 percent visual inspection.
 
Voyantic Tagsurance 3 provides RFID quality control with complete visibility into the performance of RFID tags, data encoding and data verification. Meanwhile, BST TubeScan inspects the presence and position of RFID inlays; verifies printed variable data, including QR codes; and provides quality control even with multiple labels per repeat.
 
By combining the results of both systems in a single roll report, manufacturers gain complete traceability and a comprehensive view of label quality. The integrated reporting also simplifies doctoring and helps identify defective labels more efficiently, enabling higher yield, reduced waste, lower complaint rates and increased customer satisfaction.
