Deadline nears for Label Industry Global Awards 2014

Labelexpo Global Series, which organizes the awards and the Labelexpo series of events, said it is looking for companies that have ‘broken new ground and climbed steep mountains to achieve their goals’.

Entry for one of the three awards, the R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, Award for Innovation and Award for Sustainability, is free and can be completed digitally.

The R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison, recognizes the values and vision of Stan Avery and his pioneering efforts in the label industry, and is awarded to an individual who: has served a minimum of 25 years in the label industry; has made a key contribution to the promotion and growth of the label industry; has been actively involved in the industry over many years and regularly participated in industry associations, shows, conferences, training and leadership roles; has been a high profile industry influencer and motivator; is a person of integrity, honesty and respect; and who operates on a national or international scale.

The Award for Innovation, sponsored by Flint Group Narrow Web, this award is for a specific innovation introduced by a supplier/converter company in the label industry in 2013. Innovation can refer to either technology or business practice, such as processes to improve sustainability or client experience, and this year two awards will be presented – one for companies with more than 300 employees and one for companies with up to 300 employees.

The Award for Sustainability, sponsored by Xeikon, is for a specific sustainable product or process introduced by a converter or supplier company in the label industry in 2013. It could be awarded for either a product, such as a new press, ink or substrate, or a process for working in a more sustainable way.

The original deadline for entries was May 23 but was extended by a week.

Judging will take place during the FINAT Congress in Monaco in early June and the shortlists, along with the winner of the R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, will be published shortly afterwards.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony and gala dinner taking place on September 9 at the end of the first day of Labelexpo Americas 2014 in Chicago.
