Durst and Omet collaborate

After the collaboration to produce a hybrid press together, Durst and Omet have decided to unite their sales and distribution teams worldwide to sell presses.

At Labelexpo Europe 2017, Durst has presented new Tau 330 RSC high-speed UV inkjet label press configured with in-line Omet XFlex X6 conventional finishing options.

Helmuth Munter, segment manager, label and package printing, said: ‘We now also have a distribution and sales agreement with Omet that allows Omet distributors to sell our product as a standalone or a hybrid press. This will increase our sales force on the ground, and improve our sales and service while keeping interests of existing customers and prospective buyers intact. It will be a dual distribution but with account protection for both Omet and Durst distributors.’

For post-sales service, both the companies will need each other’s support to better cater to customers. While the digital part of the press will be serviced by Durst, Omet will continue to support customers for servicing of flexo units.

Marco Calcagni, sales director at Omet, said: ‘We are sure this partnership with Durst will be a great opportunity for all printers to approach the hybrid press.’

As for the response to the new press at Labelexpo Europe, Munter said: ‘The response to the hybrid press has been fantastic. It looks like a flexo press with inline die-cutting system and runs at a speed of 78 linear m/min in full color and full resolution. Inkjet technology is a true alternative to toner technology now.’
