EyeC offering retrofit inspection for folder gluers
EyeC has launched ProofRunner Carton Retrofit as an option for packaging printers to extend the capabilities of their existing carton converting equipment.

EyeC said quality expectations have been constantly rising in the carton industry, particularly for those involved in the pharmaceutical market, but also those such as cosmetic, and food and beverage. This covers missing text or graphics, obscured letters or filled in letters that might compromise the integrity of the packaging components.
To control print quality, converters rely on in-line inspection systems, such as the EyeC ProofRunner, with 100 percent quality control allowing print shops to react to unexpected production problems. It also reduces material waste, lowers the cost of quality and guarantees customer satisfaction.
Modern, state-of-the-art folder gluers are often equipped with such inspection systems, EyeC said, although those already installed and commissioned might not.
The EyeC ProofRunner Carton Retrofit is a self-contained unit that converts existing folder gluers. It is integrated between the folder gluer’s feeder and the pre-folding section adding only 16in (400mm) to the overall length of the machine.
The EyeC ProofRunner Carton Retrofit inspects the entire carton surface, including the flaps, against approved artwork. It uses the folder gluer’s existing ejection device to reject any defective item, and provides a full inspection report at the end of every job.
Sören Springmann, one of the owners of EyeC, said: ‘It allows print shops to stay competitive without changing completely their machines. There is a great demand for this kind of technology and we are convinced that it will affect the market significantly.
‘At EyeC we are really concerned about productivity and user-friendliness. As usual with our solutions, the job setup is quick and the user interface easy to use and intuitive. Moreover job- or customer-specific parameter sets can be used to make sure each job is inspected using the correct settings.’
