Finat has detailed its 2016 Technical Seminar, ‘Labelling – the future and beyond’, taking place March 16-18 in Barcelona, Spain.

The biennial Finat Technical Seminar will return to the Crowne Plaza Barcelona Fira Center on March 16-18

The program is described as wide-ranging, combining formal plenary and parallel conference sessions, and extensive peer networking around an accompanying table-top exhibition

The seminar is to open with an exploration of how labels need to change to meet end users’ and consumers’ criteria In the face of the extensive changes that labeling and product decoration are today experiencing in terms of print technologies and substrates, packaging styles, regulatory concerns, brand owner and consumer demands and environmental issues. This will serve as a prelude to more in-depth discussions that are scheduled over the course of the seminar.

An update on the latest test methods developed by the Technical Committee will be presented to attendees, as well as an overview of regulatory affairs from Finat public affairs manager Mark Macaré and an introduction to the Finat/TLMI Life Cycle Analysis guide from Anne Gaasbeek of Pré Consultants. Parallel sessions will cover emerging technologies and sustainability.

Future developments are to be the focal point of the second day’s agenda, from pre-press innovations and measurements in labelstock testing, to L’Oréal’s evaluation of label quality.
