FlexoGurukul, a technical training session organized by Fasco Printech, saw Frank Burgos of FlexoExchange, spreading knowledge on controlling color in the flexo pressroom to the Indian market during its second session

Attended by suppliers, manufacturers and about 30 printers from all over India, the session was made interactive and there were regular question and answer sessions with the audience.

Explaining the Fasco Printech, managing director Harveer Sahni said: ‘It is a platform to take worries away from the flexo and label printing fraternity. If you have issues on press operators, Fasco provides operator support, backup services and also trains them at your own work place.

‘When you have issues where your team members are lacking technical awareness, we present to you FlexoGurukul to train your mid-level and senior level personnel.’

Pawandeep Sahni, director at Fasco Printech, spoke about major problems being faced by printers such as increasing costs and reverse auction. Pointing at the new government’s Make In India campaign, he hoped the attendees would gain the knowledge at FlexoGurukul to work on increasing efficiency at the production floor.

Burgos shared 200 Excel sheets and ink management formulae with attendees. He delivered an information-packed technical session, stressing the use of a spectrophotometer for measuring color and how to set up process control systems.

He started the day discussing spot color expectations and challenges. Later he explained how spot colors can be achieved using mathematical formulae. He finished the session on day one stressing the significance of recycling surplus spot color batches to keep ink inventory levels low and fresh.

The second day started with a discussion on four-color process control. Burgos spoke about reproduction expectations and challenges concerning four-color process printing. It was followed by a session dedicated to understanding density, dot gain, minimum dot and cut-back curves.

The last session was about understanding color standards, where Burgos discussed assembling, using and maintaining color standards including spot color and four-color process images.
