Frimpeks UK site expansion to facilitate long-term growth

Frimpeks is continuing its growth in the UK by expanding its Saxmundham, Suffolk manufacturing site by a further 25,000 sq ft and creating space for capital equipment investments planned for 2016 and over the next three years.

The planned capital equipment investments include the expansion of an existing coating line to incorporate greater automation and flexibility. A new slitter incorporating fully automated packing lines is to be installed during the second quarter of 2016. Additional warehousing will also be available, increasing storage space tenfold.

Frimpeks launched its UK presence last year, with Dave Casey appointed as managing director.

‘This announcement underlines Frimpeks commitment to following through on its five-year plan,’ said Casey. ‘The site expansion and new plant will increase capacity and follows a similar investment at our sister plant in Remscheid, Germany. The hot melt coating capability will provide the flexibility and capacity our growing customer base demand and will give us a basis to continue our growth plans and serve the European market.’

Expansion of the Saxmundham site will also likely create jobs, and Frimpeks group managing director Emre Sayer said: ‘We pride ourselves on the knowledge bank and skills of our people and therefore are pleased to commit to further recruitment at our UK site that should see the workforce double in number across the next few years.

‘We have a tremendously experienced and committed team at the Saxmundham plant that is an important element of our global operation and we see a fantastic opportunity to grow the Frimpeks brand.’
