Heidelberg UK reorganizes its color team

Heidelberg UK has created a stronger and more regionally focused color certification team to cope with the growing number of ISO 12647-2 certifications and implement Print Color Management (PCM) projects.

Product manager Paul Chamberlain will head up the team with press and pre-press pairs for each area of the country

Product manager Paul Chamberlain will head up the team with press and pre-press pairs for each area of the country that will work together on projects: Jonathan Smith and Neil Blakely will look after the north; the midlands will have Mark Barrett and Mark Harris; and in the south, Stuart Baker and Neil Hathaway will be in charge.

Chamberlain said: ‘By using the mix of press and pre-press skills we can ensure seamless results. All are trained to manage Print Color Management work and all are certified to handle ISO 12647-2.’

Heidelberg is keen for printers to undertake broader PCM audits and projects to ensure that all presses operate to the optimum standard.

‘There are new certification standards covering measurement, view and illumination, and ISO 12647-2 2013 that we will show at our UK Open House on the November 12-13,’ said Chamberlain. ‘This will allow us to explain our approach to implementing color programs that enhance quality, reduce waste and increase overall efficiency.’

Currently 22 UK printers hold ISO 12647-2 certification, which gives them entry to the Heidelberg Color Club. Those renewing, every two years, become Elite members, and Chamberlain predicts the number will grow by 50 percent over the next 12 months.
