IML drives Akzo Spain packaging transition from metal to plastic
Plastic pails decorated using in-mold labeling (IML) have helped Akzo Spain in its decision to transition its packaging to a new plastic format.
Akzo Spain is now using one liter Paintainer containers, which are injection molded in polypropylene, from RPC Superfos as part of its effort to maintain its market leadership position with products such as Bruguer and Procolor, traditionally retailed in metal cans. Akzo Spain said the new packaging meets current and future needs as the range features a large choice of volumes and finishing options through IML with lacquer.
Initial market response has been ‘very positive’, according to Akzo Spain, which has also reported an ‘outstanding product delivered with a very high level of service’ from RPC Superfos.
