Labelexpo Asia 2015 conference program to address market challenges

Labelexpo Asia 2015 will place a spotlight on sustainability, commercial opportunities for Asian converters, digital and flexo technology, brand protection and smart products, as its takes a ‘close-up look at the current challenges label converters face in building a stronger business,’ according to the event organizer.

Taking place December 1-4 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), Labelexpo Asia is the region’s largest dedicated event for the label and package printing industry. Labelexpo Asia 2015 will showcase the latest product developments and services from around 300 exhibitors, including Avery Dennison, Bobst, Brotech, Epson, Guangdong Guanhao, Label Source, Labelmen, Lintec, Omet, Screen, UPM Raflatac, UPM-Kymmene, Xeikon, Yupo Corporation, Zhe Jiang Wei Gang Machinery, Zhejiang Zhongte Machinery Technology and Zhongshan King Label Adhesive Products. As well as a comprehensive selection of industry suppliers exhibiting, Labelexpo Asia 2015 features a two-day conference program with presentations to address topics such as sustainability, commercial opportunities for Asian converters, digital and flexo technology, brand protection and smart products.

The keynote presentation will be given by Sharon Xiao, sustainability manager for Greater China at UPM Raflatac. Entitled ‘Increasing your profits through sustainability’, Xiao will look at the risks and policies affecting printing businesses and explore how printers can develop a business model that is more environmentally friendly. She will also tackle how to improve operational efficiency and create environmental awareness in the branding of products. Xiao will be joined by Mingming Sun, senior officer of WWF China's sustainable paper and palm oil program,  as well as a representative of FSC for a Q&A session. This session will be introduced by Jari Haavisto, vice president Greater China, UPM Raflatac China, who will introduce delegates to the company's Biofore sustainable materials strategy.

A panel discussion featuring high-level converters from across the Asian region will be staged for the first time, and is to include: Chinese printers Yi Sun of Rako Group and Henrich Quek from Top Print Labels; QLM Label Makers’ Peter Woods from Malaysia; and Alex Tan from Singapore-based Orient Quality Print.

The conference will also include two hour-long ‘how to guides’ covering the latest in digital and flexo printing. Speakers from Xeikon, Screen and Brotech will provide a comprehensive guide to digital printing including pre-press, printing and finishing. Presentations will be given on day two by Gallus and Flint Group on flexo technology, materials and performance. There will also be two further sessions, the first covering the latest in product security, asset protection and brand authentication and the second, with speakers including Jan ‘t Hart from Avery Dennison, concentrating on smart products which can enhance consumer experiences and spending.
