Kaygee Loparex is India’s largest release liner manufacturer. The production facility, located in Silvassa, near Mumbai, produces a wide array of custom-engineered silicone coated papers and films which support the diverse release liner needs of key industries including medical, tapes, hygiene, labels, security, composites and other industrial markets. In-house product development, combined with IMS Certification (ISO 9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007), practiced GMP, and robust quality management methodology ensure high standards of quality, efficiency, regulatory and EHS compliance. Loparex Group, a global supplier of release liners, has further manufacturing, product development and commercial operations in the US, Europe, China and Thailand.

Mike Apperson, Loparex CEO, said: ‘We are delighted to add the world class manufacturing capabilities of Kaygee Loparex to the global Loparex family. In addition to the assets, we also welcome an incredibly talented and dedicated group of employees to our Loparex team, which will synergize our ability to bring additional value, not only to our local India based customers, but also to our customers throughout the world.

‘The addition of Loparex India compliments our unique and continuing investment strategy and our long term commitment to serving the diverse needs of our global customers.’

Currently spread across an area of 78,000 sq ft and running at 75 percent capacity, Kaygee Loparex India has additional land to expand its production facility, if needed. Manish Jain, Kaygee Loparex India CEO, added: ‘With Loparex’s help, the company is poised to grow in the Indian sub-continent and nearby markets. Loparex will bring in more technical knowledge, expertise, and a sales and marketing team to enable us to sell our products in India and other geographies.’

Thirty percent of Kaygee Loparex India’s turnover is contributed by labels which the company aims to take to 40 percent by expanding its reach in different markets. ‘Kaygee Loparex India will focus more on the labels market. We will increase our sales network in countries such as Russia, Latin America, Turkey, Middle East and Africa. With Loparex’s sales network help, we will get more customers from these regions,’ said Jain.

Exports account for around 40 percent of turnover at Kaygee Loparex India, with 60 percent generated from the domestic market. ‘The Indian market is growing in double digits. We see western and northern regions within the country growing faster compared to East and South India,’ Jain said.

Kaygee Loparex India is also working towards offering environmentally sustainable products by reducing the weight of its liners. The company has brought down the weight of 60g glassine liner by 20 percent. It is now focusing on manufacturing 50g glassine liners which has been tested and commercialized. Similarly, customers are being offered 20 to 30 micron film which altogether reduces the overall grammage.

Jain pointed out that a lot of new players are installing machinery and small labelstock manufacturers are also moving into the industry. ‘We offer economy liners which is 60g glassine liner in the Indian market only. For barcode applications, we have coated papers in 55-60g and we also make polyester liners for no-look films. Thus, Kaygee Loparex India is very well placed for those who don’t have in-house siliconizing,’ he said.

Further, Kaygee Loparex India claims to have 99.9 percent landfill free facilities. ‘The waste silicone liners are being used in various industries such as in flute carton making, wrapping of fruits and shirts, amongst others,’ said Jain.
