Next UV Days extends remit

IST Metz’s next UV Days event will highlight the potential for the use of UV in a variety of processes, as well as the versatility of UV technology for use in label and package printing.

UV Days 2015 is the seventh instalment of the word’s ‘largest in-house trade fair for UV technology’

Taking place June 15-18, UV Days 2015 is the seventh instalment of the word’s ‘largest in-house trade fair for UV technology’, as the event is described by IST Metz. Some 700 guests are expected across the four days, with visitors coming to IST Metz’s headquarters in Nürtingen, near Stuttgart, from all over the world. For the first time, UV Days is taking place in the new IST Metz building which, with over 2,000 sq m, offers more exhibition space than ever before.

UV’s use in sheet-fed, web-fed and digital printing will be demonstrated, with three presses continuously printing UV products.

Around 30 partners of IST Metz from the printing industry will be present at UV Days 2015, and a new Innovation Corner will see experts demonstrate further areas of application for the use of UV systems, such as in adhesives or water treatment using UV light.

UV Days 2015 has the tagline ‘UV rocks’ and, in keeping with this theme, a cardboard guitar will be printed and finished live at the event on the company's own sheet-fed offset press. This will feature a combination of LED colors and UV varnishes. The process colors are LED colors and the in-line finishes are applied using UV varnish systems. Curing with both LED and UV will be shown, highlighting the respective strengths of each drying system during the printing process.

Additional features will be added to this year's UV printed product, further enhancing its functions.

IST Metz managing director Dirk Jägers said: ‘We are no longer solely focusing on providing information about UV printing. Although that is, and will remain, our core competence.

‘These days, the overall concept of a printed product must appeal to the consumer, in the higher priced segment especially. Printed products from our company demonstrate the latest possibilities.’
