Siegwerk acquires Brazilian ink manufacturer to extend LATAM presence

Siegwerk has signed a contract to purchase family-owned Tupahue Tintas, a provider of inks, varnishes and solvents for flexo and gravure printing located in Diadema, Sao Paulo. Since its foundation in 1989, Tupahue Tintas offers products especially designed for serving the needs of packaging converters in the local market.

With this acquisition, Siegwerk expands its presence in the Latin American region and further strengthens its ability to better serve specific local market demands. Tupahue Tintas’ portfolio covers flexo and gravure printing inks and varnishes suitable for a wide range of substrates, such as LDPE, HDPE, BOPP, PP, polyolefin, polyester, aluminum, metallized films and others.

Andrea Serturini, president and head of the Latin America at Siegwerk, said: ‘With the purchase of Tupahue Tintas we add a well-established ink provider with high quality products for packaging applications to the Siegwerk family.

‘You can see a growing demand for customized applications and high-end packaging in Latin America. When it comes to packaging, flexo and gravure solvent-based are still the major printing processes used in the region. Combining now Tupahue’s and our know-how and technology in these fields adds great value to our offering for the local markets.’

Siegwerk’s purchase offer includes the transfer of all technical expertise and product portfolio as well as the manufacturing equipment related to Tupahue’s headquarters in Diadema. Both companies will work closely together to ensure a smooth integration of the business without any interference for current customers of both companies.

The acquisition of Tupahue Tintas is the latest step in Siegwerk’s growth strategy. Going forward, Siegwerk plans to continue investing in infrastructures and the local development of competences with the focus on strengthening its local market positions and expanding its offering for the packaging market worldwide.

Herbert Forker, Siegwerk CEO, commented: ‘Investments in the emerging markets like Latin America or Asia are a fundamental pillar of our growth strategy. Getting closer to customers and offering our solutions and services at the same high quality worldwide is one of our strategic goals.

‘We will especially continue investing in resources supporting all different segments of the packaging market.’
