Skanem Interlabels buys HP Indigo WS6800

On the announcement at the show floor, H. Venkataraman, managing director at Skanem Interlabels Industries, said: ‘In-line priming and spectrophotometer on this press makes the process easier. It is a faster machine and enhances our digital capacity so we can broaden our customer base.’ This machine will replace the old HP press at the company’s plant in Mumbai.

Talking of the trends in the Indian market, A. Appadurai, country manager, Indigo and Inkjet web press, Graphics Solutions Business, HP India, added: ‘The consumer market is pushing many products to digitally printed labels. The SKUs are becoming small. Digital helps when packaging competes on the super market shelf. I believe that demonetization in the Indian market will increase the volume of digital. As the number of pages increase, the install base of digital presses will increase too.’

Of the show at the new venue, Appadurai, said: ‘We are getting a lot of serious enquiries here and will get a better return on investment at this venue. The way we see our business, it is not by the number of presses installed but by the number of pages they print and we are growing in double digits.’
