Soma debuts CI flexo at Labelexpo

Press manufacturer Soma Engineering has used Labelexpo Europe 2015 to introduce the label market to its Optima mid web CI flexo press, with live demonstrations of two jobs, and the changeover from a 7-color to a 6-color job, on its stand in hall 7.

Soma's stand at Labelexpo Europe 2015 was busy for its inaugural presentation of the Optima mid web CI flexo press

Soma Engineering has developed Optima as a flexo press to target short run print work in the mid web space. Available in printing widths of 620mm and 820mm, the Optima features an ergonomic design concept that separates the print area from the material section for improved operator space and efficiency. The press design is aimed at entry level customers and existing print operations seeking to transfer short-run work from high performance lines. The 620mm wide version is available for customers requiring a machine for test/laboratory purposes, or shrink film label production. Using a modular design concept permits the addition of a full range of options comparable to those available for Soma’s top of the range models for as much or as little automation as required. These can be supplied at the time of purchase or at a later date to meet changes in market demands or production needs.

Demonstrations of the Optima on the Soma stand include a 7-color surface print job, and a 6-color reverse print job.

A large audience gathered on Soma’s stand on the first day of Labelexpo Europe 2015 to witness the first demonstrations of a CI flexo press on the show’s floor, and Petr Blasko, Soma Engineering marketing manager, said: ‘We have brought the Optima CI flexo press to Labelexpo in order to introduce the label industry to the opportunities in mid web printing. It is a very profitable segment, and growing.’
