Springfield Solutions to surpass last year's record production total

Digital printer Springfield Solutions is on course for another record-breaking year and expects to surpass the 100 million labels it printed in 2014 having already reached the 65 million mark by June 30 this year.

Springfield Solutions said it has seen a 21 percent increase in printing jobs, with nearly 16,000 completed this year and more than 4.3 million meters of labels printed in the first six months of 2015. The label and packaging specialist topped 100 million labels produced in 2014, a record high in its 40-year history, and said the 2015 total could climb as high as 130 million labels.

The business has seen year-on-year increases since converting to an all-digital print operation three years ago. This has included investing in Europe’s first Screen Truepress Jet L350UV digital label press. Further recent developments from Springfield Solutions include the launch of Revealabel and a packaging mock-up service.

Springfield Solutions joint managing director Dennis Ebeltoft said: ‘To have printed 65 million labels so far this year is a fantastic achievement. We have built on the success of last year and we’re on track to beat our record.

‘We were among the earliest adopters of digital in the industry, buying our first digital press in 1996, and investing 750,000 GBP to transform the print room to all digital in 2012.

‘As a result we’ve seen an increase in demand because digital enables our clients more flexibility and it has enabled Springfield Solutions to operate more efficiently.’

Demand for labels has been supplemented by recent changes to EU regulations on label information, added Ebeltoft, who continued: ‘Changes to label regulations meant brands had to reprint with a lot more information included. In February we launched our innovative piggyback style label, Revealabel, giving brands a solution to the changes without having to compromise on design.’
