AVT launches AutoEdit AI and Mark Andy alliance

AVT has formally launched AutoEdit AI at Loupe Americas 2026 in Chicago, making the AI-driven post-inspection defect classification module available to the wider label market on a subscription basis for Helios 100 percent print inspection systems, alongside the announcement of a strategic technical and commercial alliance with Mark Andy.

AutoEdit AI, which debuted at Labelexpo Europe 2025 and has been running on converter production floors since, addresses the bottleneck that occurs after defect detection when operators must manually review the virtual roll and classify each logged defect as salable or requiring removal at the rewinder. The module runs after Helios inspection and before AVT Workflow Link automatic waste removal, classifying every detected defect into one of three categories: salable, non-salable or requiring final review. Only the third category is surfaced to the operator in a pre-sorted view inside PrintFlow Manager. The model is trained centrally across production data from many converters, applications, substrates and end-market quality standards, with every classification and operator override logged for pharmaceutical, food, healthcare and personal care audit requirements. The module includes both software and dedicated processing hardware and installs alongside existing Helios systems without disruption.

'Detection has been a settled question in our industry for years. What has changed is the pressure on everything that happens after it,' said Guy Yogev, vice president of marketing and product at AVT. 'As short runs, versioning and personalization multiply, that manual review of the virtual roll for final waste removal decisions has become one of the real constraints on throughput, manpower and consistency between operators and between shifts. AutoEdit AI is designed to lift that classification burden directly.'

The Mark Andy alliance, also introduced at Loupe Americas, delivers two joint innovations. A closed-loop register control system for the Mark Andy Performance Series and HD Series presses reduces startup waste and enables in-run register adjustments without operator intervention, extending register control to invisible varnish and coating layers and automatically registering both flexo and digital inks in hybrid workflows. AVT press data also now feeds directly into the MA ProWorx platform through a new business intelligence module, giving converters a unified view of production performance across presses and sites.

'By aligning our roadmaps and combining Mark Andy's press engineering with AVT's inspection and data intelligence, we can deliver capabilities that neither company could develop alone,' said Yogev. 'Converters are under real pressure to do more with less: less waste, less operator intervention, less time between jobs.'
