AVT adds digital press control offering

Advanced Vision Technology (AVT) has introduced a new press control and quality assurance system for the new Heidelberg digital inkjet press, which has been designed to efficiently support printing process automation and calibration ‘in full synergy with the press controller’.

AVT adds digital press control offering

The system was introduced at the recent Gallus Innovations Days event, where the Gallus DCS 340 was launched. It is a new digital press platform based on Fujifilm’s inkjet technology and developed by Heidelberg in collaboration with Gallus.

Features of the AVT system include continuous quality monitoring to maintain digital printing quality, real-time feedbacks and ongoing detection of missing, deviating or weak printing nozzles.

It can be expanded to include further features, such as color control, verification of geometric parameters like color to color registration, image placement and an advanced reporting system.

In addition, it has the ability to monitor data integrity of static and variable content, classify possible print defects and initiate corrective actions.

Ultimately, it is designed to efficiently support printing process automation and calibration in full synergy with the press controller, AVT said.

Jaron Lotan, AVT president and chief executive officer, said: ‘We are honored to be the partner of choice for Heidelberg and Gallus, the recognized leader in narrow web and label presses, in developing this digital converting system that achieves new standards of print result quality. Our collaboration further showcases why AVT is positioned to lead the way in both digital and conventional printing quality and control throughout the workflow process.’

Stefan Heiniger, chief operating officer for the label business at Gallus, added: ‘AVT is a leader in the label industry for inspection and workflow control. Its solutions are world class and are supported by its global network. Through our strategic partnership, the AVT inspection and press control system is a part of the newly unveiled prototype of our digital converting system Gallus DCS 340 that will ensure Gallus customers are at the forefront of technology and print quality.’

In addition to the new digital inkjet press control system, AVT also showcased its new Helios S system on the Gallus RCS 330mm label press.
