Mactac unveils InFusion technology

Mactac, a supplier of pressure-sensitive adhesive products, has unveiled its new InFusion hybrid adhesive system.
Years in the making, InFusion blends adhesive and silicone chemistry to create a proprietary formula with aggressive adhesion, fast and clean converting, improved die-cutting and superior matrix stripping.
‘InFusion is a direct result of Mactac’s commitment to research and development and sets precedence in the pressure-sensitive adhesive industry. It is the benchmark in innovative product development, providing solutions for converters as well as end-users beyond their expectations,’ said Kathy Magyar, marketing manager, Mactac Printing Products. ‘This product has been in development for years, and there is nothing like it on the market today. We truly believe it will revolutionize this industry.’
Product development included Mactac’s proprietary lab tests to predict die-cutting and matrix stripping as well as extensive field testing. The end result – InFusion – runs faster and wider through label presses, even on weaker facestocks like those often used in thermal transfer applications. This improved converting allows converters to increase through-put and lower costs without the downtime typically associated with matrix breaks and adhesive build-up.
Mactac has conducted several InFusion trial runs – the majority of which ran on Mark Andy’s rewinders featuring RotoMetrics’ dies for improved die-cutting and stripping. All runs resulted in 100 percent success. During trials in Germany at the University of Munich, InFusion was the only product to max the press – something that has yet to be accomplished by any other manufacturer, anywhere, says the company.
‘The greatest challenge in developing a product like InFusion – something that will convert quickly without sacrificing adhesive performance – is the higher the run speed, the more force needed to strip the matrix,’ Magyar said. ‘InFusion has surpassed even our own expectations with exceptional adhesive quality as well as superior die-cutting and matrix stripping. It offers converters the best of both worlds. Everything else they’ve trialed is history – InFusion is the future.’
