NDC Technologies adds 8000-Slim web gauging system and SlimTrak scanner

8000-Slim is designed to help customers produce high-quality products with exceptional results, and delivers fast, real-time measurement and tight control of key product parameters such as thickness, coat weight, basis weight and moisture. By combining speed, accuracy, control and information in an intelligent open architecture, the system is suited for narrow web process lines, according to NDC Technologies. Plant profitability also benefits, it is claimed, through improved process visibility and control, enabling coating and extruded sheet manufacturers to increase productivity while lowering manufacturing costs.

The SlimTrak scanner for narrow web applications delivers fast, accurate and reliable quality measurements that are tightly integrated into an intelligent, distributed web gauging system. SlimTrak supports either one of NDC’s infrared reflection or gamma backscatter sensors and offers several benefits for narrow web processors, such as a small beam cross-section footprint for compact installations and remotely mounted scanner electronics to further enhance reliability and maintainability.

The scanner electronics can be mounted up to 65ft (20m) away from scanner, allowing them to be located in a more suitable environment. SlimTrak’s cross-sectional area is less than 150 x 150mm (6 x 6in), and supports web widths from 200mm (8in) to 1600mm (63in).

The 8000-Slim platform can support up to two SlimTrak scanners, each with one sensor.
