Swedish self-adhesive label laminator Scandstick has developed an all-purpose permanent hotmelt adhesive, the SSP50AF, suited for numerous food and logistics applications, including recycled carton, as well as anti-fog and slip-treated film.

With a service temperature ranging from -40 degrees C to 70 degrees C, the SSP50AF adhesive ‘offers outstanding bonding properties, easy slitting, fast converting, and a smooth, consistent release force’, said the company in a statement. The new adhesive is said to perform across a host of environments, including dry, warm, ambient, chilled, moist and frozen situations.

The SSP50AF was developed in response to the high growth in the market for film packaging and combines the benefits of the former adhesives, SSP50, SSP750AF and SSP757. Staffan Hagberg, marketing manager for Scandstick, commented: ‘Until now, the carton and filmic markets have been traditionally problematic application areas – for instance anti-fog molecules might migrate through film, making adhesion difficult. This led to many application-specific adhesives. The launch of the SSP50AF solves this problem, as label converters now have a single standard permanent adhesive that covers almost all food applications. Not only does this offer greater peace of mind, it simplifies logistics decisions, too.’
