Omet and Rossini develop new sleeves for 850mm offset press

Omet and Rossini have developed HONYALU, new sleeve technology for the manufacturer’s Varyflex V2 Offset 850 press designed to optimize performance in job changeover by overcoming difficulties due to the large size and weight of sleeves.

HONYALU sleeves use a honeycomb material between the base and aluminum tubing, which allows the sleeve to be lighter thanks to its open cell structure. It also absorbs vibrations and reduces bounce during printing.

Omet said the Varyflex V2 Offset 850 represents ‘a true breakthrough’ in printing for the packaging printing and is the result of lengthy research and innovations developed by Omet with partners.

The design of the new Varyflex V2 Offset 850 required optimization of performance in job changeover by overcoming difficulties due to the large size and weight of sleeves, and the consequent time required to perform such operations.

Omet’s research and development department worked with Rossini on reducing the weight of the sleeve, and to deliver improved print quality. This has resulted in the HONYALU sleeves that are lighter to ease handling during job changeover and deliver better print quality than any other technologies currently on the market, it is claimed.

The Omet Varyflex V2 Offset 850 will be officially introduced at drupa 2016, and marks the Italian manufacturer’s definitive move into the packaging machinery market.
