Developed in partnership with Sandon Global, Creation Reprographics and Hamilton Adhesive Labels, and launched at Labelexpo Europe 2017 where Pulse and Sandon are exhibiting, the tactile coating has been brought to market to provide a high quality finish for industries that can benefit from incorporating a rough texture and tactile effects onto consumer packaging and labeling.

The collaboration brings together knowledge and expertise in ink, anilox, reprographics, platemaking and self-adhesive label printing

Pulse Roll Label Products undertook extensive development work to optimize a rough texture feel and runnability of a tactile varnish at higher speeds. The new product has been formulated for good flow and high rough texture and, in response to customer demands, has been developed to be suitable for non-direct food contact packaging applications.

Hamilton Adhesive Labels has adopted Pulse Roll Label Products’ PureTone UV flexo ink system to support its measurement and control philosophy, and desire to achieve excellence in print.

Mikaela Harding, product manager at Pulse Roll Label Products said: ‘Working closely with Sandon, Creation and Hamilton Adhesive Labels, we have been able to develop a tactile finishing solution that brings together the latest in ink, anilox, repro, plate and print technologies. When combined with Sandon GMX engraved anilox and Asahi AWP flexo plates from Creation, our new FPC rough texture varnish provides an outstanding tactile effect clearly demonstrated on labels printed by our customer Hamilton Adhesive Labels.

‘Each company involved shares a drive for excellence in print and the mission to provide the highest quality labels and packaging to enhance and build brands. This project is an excellent example of how industry collaboration brings together the best of the supply chain to provide an even greater result for both label printers and the brand owners.’

Pulse Roll Label Products managing director Gary Seward aded: ‘As a specialist narrow web ink manufacturer we are focused on formulating products that provide optimal print quality and add value for our customers. By working closely with other leading industry experts, we aim to offer a complete solution and we are proud to partner and work with other like-minded British companies who adopt a similar forward thinking approach.’

At Labelexpo Europe 2017, Pulse also shows new UV screen and water-based flexo inks alongside a rebranded product portfolio.
