RotoMetrics launches AccuStar flexible die range

This was the first Labelexpo where attendees experienced leading die manufacturers RotoMetrics and Gerhardt joined together as one global force to service the global industry.

Together the firm successfully launched the AccuStar flexible die cutting system line of products which combines the technological strengths of both the Accuflex and 357 Star lines of each respective company. AccuStar is a premium laser-hardened die system designed to cut through thin materials down to ever thinning liner films with superior precision and can be specially coated to suit the thermal transfer market. Additionally, it offers the longevity required to suit longer volume runs.

While there are currently two lines available within the AccuStar family, the company plans to include more options. The Accustar line is presently manufactured at both the RotoMetrics flexible die facility in the US and its facility in Aldridge, UK. By the end of the year production will be possible in Australia and Thailand.

The new RotoMetrics/Gerhardt team also launched the AccuStrike adjustable anvil which allows operators to adjust blade clearance on press by the bearers independently or together to avoid liner strikes. Live demos were shown at the Mark Andy booth on its highly successful P-7 press, the most advanced in its Performance Series launched at Labelexpo 2009, and on Nilpeter’s FB-3300 in conjunction with the press manufacturer’s New Innovation Award-nominated SMED-based die system.

Brent Fischmann, director of marketing and corporate development, said: ‘Just six months into the acquisition of Gerhardt, we are proud to bring the industry new technology from joint product development. We will uphold the strong European support that the market knows and will continue to make the merger transparent to our customers globally, ensuring they’re getting the innovation needed to succeed in this competitive market. It is an ideal combination.’

Also featured was the TextureFlex, a unique dual purpose die that allows for texturing and die-cutting of pre-printed label material that adds value and reduces cost in one step. It is available for hard de-boss and soft emboss applications.
