Xaar introduces 1003 family of printheads for industrial inkjet printing

Xaar has launched the Xaar 1003 family of printheads, which are said to set a ‘new benchmark for industrial inkjet printing’, and build on its existing 1001 and 1002 products.

Xaar 1003 printheads feature XaarGuard, which provides nozzle plate protection, and Xaar’s new X-ACT micro electric mechanical systems (MEMS) manufacturing process

Xaar 1003 printheads are available as the: GS12 model for rich colors or higher speeds in ceramics applications; GS6 for fine detail; and GS40 for special effects. Other variants for UV applications will also be available later in the first half of 2016.

Earlier this year, Xaar launched the 1002 GS40 printhead for UV applications which, already proven in the ceramic tile decoration industry, makes possible a range of high-build varnish and textured effects for labels, packaging, graphics and wood laminates.

Xaar 1003 printheads feature XaarGuard, which provides nozzle plate protection, and Xaar’s new X-ACT micro electric mechanical systems (MEMS) manufacturing process. And like the 1001 and 1002 models, 1003 printheads combine Xaar’s TF Technology with its Hybrid Side Shooter architecture so that ink is recirculated directly past the back of the nozzle during drop ejection at a high flow rate.

‘We are delighted to announce the new Xaar 1003 printhead family which is testament to our commitment to ensure our customers remain at the leading edge of single-pass industrial inkjet printing,’ said Gillian Ewers, Xaar marketing director. ‘Alongside improved performance and the maintenance free production runs, the Xaar 1003 is easy to install and is also backwards compatible with the Xaar 1002 and Xaar 1001 printheads.’

Xaar will show the 1003 family of printheads at drupa 2016.
