Auckland-based label converter Panprint, owned by The Blue Star Group, walked away with the best of a wide field of label entries this week in the 2011 New Zealand Pride in Print Awards. The 1956-established firm pioneered self-adhesive wine labels in New Zealand 20 years ago, while today more than 100 of the country's wineries use its award-winning offset labels.

Panprint is on record as the most awarded printer in the New Zealand Pride in Print awards, ahead of competitors in both gold medals and ‘highly commended’ entries.

The judges described the winning entry, a Sauvignon Blanc label, as ‘a fine piece of stochastic screening in which the dot size and distribution pattern of the screen yields cleaner and more vibrant color’.
