Specialty Printing achieves ISO 9001:2000 certification

US converter Specialty Printing has earned ISO 9001:2000 certification, which is based on internationally recognized quality standards.
‘ISO certification opens doors for us with other potential customers, strengthens our position with existing customers and drives continuous quality improvement,’ said president and CEO Bill Bailey. ‘Some companies will only work with vendors who are ISO certified, so it will open up new markets for us.’
ISO 9001:2000 certification also provides a basis for other certifications, such as ISO 13485, which is for the medical industry.
‘Earning ISO 9001:2000 certification was a company-wide effort that began with a pre-audit in May,’ Bailey said.
‘The pre-audit determined we were ready and our chances to be certified were good,’ said Lynne Hartwell, ISO documentation coordinator. “The entire company has been through a system of Lean and Kaizen programming. Doing so set us up to be better prepared to gain ISO certification. It put a lot of systems in place.’
Every department was audited, paperwork was reviewed and updated, and corrective actions were initiated and completed.
