Bioplastics campaign wins marketing award

A campaign to promote the benefits of natural polymers to the packaging industry has scooped the prestigious Chairman’s Award at The Drum Marketing Awards 2014.

A campaign to promote the benefits of natural polymers to the packaging industry has scooped the prestigious Chairman’s Award at The Drum Marketing Awards 2014

The prize was awarded to specialist consultancy Life Size Media for their ‘Intelligent Plastics, Naturally’ campaign for Biome Bioplastics. The ‘Intelligent Plastics, Naturally’ campaign promotes the benefits of natural polymers to the packaging industry whilst raising awareness among the academic community, funding bodies and policy makers.

Achieving sustained press coverage over several years, the award-winning campaign delivered on the client’s key commercial objectives, most notably by facilitating introductions to major target customers.

Other developments in relation to Biome Bioplastics in include the Technology Strategy Board, the UK’s innovation agency, awarding a grant to a consortium led by parent Biome Technologies to investigate whether organic chemicals derived from lignin, a waste product from the pulp and paper industry, could be used in the manufacture of high-performance bioplastics.

Biome Bioplastics has also formed a knowledge transfer partnership with the University of Warwick to accelerate the commercialization and scope of the company’s industrial biotechnology research.

The Drum Marketing Awards are one of the most sought after accolades in the marketing industry. The Chairman’s Award was chosen by Mags Dixon, marketing director at Pizza Hut, as her personal favorite entry.

Other winners in the Drum Marketing Awards 2014 included Maverick Advertising & Design for its work with the Gibraltar Football Association, Craig Inglis of John Lewis, Heineken, which was named as Brand of the Year. Broadcaster ITV was awarded the prize for Re-brand/ Re-launch Strategy of the Year, while Global Brand Strategy of the Year went to Starcom MediaVest Group and its work with Samsung Mobile.
