SPGPrints to show DSI UV inkjet press at Labelexpo India 2016
SPGPrints will exhibit the DSI UV inkjet press at Labelexpo India 2016, alongside rotary screen developments, on the stand it will share with Stovec Industries.

The 330mm-wide DSI UV inkjet press prints up to 10 colors, using orange and violet to augment CMYK, to achieve 90 percent of the color gamut. Digital white offers 93 percent optical density. SPGPrints’ proprietary UV inkjet inks offer UV, chemical and scratch-resistance, and are fully compliant with safety standards for safe food and pharmaceutical packaging.
The stand, with a workbench preparing live jobs, will also highlight the ease of adopting rotary screen printing.
Retrofittable RSI units can be integrated with almost all label presses. Non-woven nickel re-engravable RotaMesh and – on non-SPGPrints presses - reusable RotaPlate screens offer durability and stability at up to 100m/min. Both screen ranges cover the full range of applications from coarse effects and Braille to fine linework and text as small as 2pt size.
rotaLEN is a direct laser engraving system for imaging rotary screens with resolutions of up to 4000dpi in a single step. The engraver’s sealed carbon dioxide laser ablates the printed areas without film, chemicals or water. Its extended engraving width of 660mm accommodates wider RotaMesh screens or two RotaPlate meshes simultaneously. Files for rotaLEN can be prepared with SPGPrints’ software, providing optimum control when creating fine positive and negative images.
The variLEX hybrid laser exposer is a single, digital imaging technology for high-definition flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress printing formes. It can be equipped with multi-beam diode lasers for ablating the black mask and/or for directly exposing UV-sensitive screen materials. variLEX, capable of ablation and exposure in one step, comes with SPGPrints’ own software.
A workbench will demonstrate SPGPrints’ rotary screen workflow as a flexible, efficient way of applying numerous brand-enhancing, functional and tactile effects in one pass.
Hank Guitjens, commercial manager for label printing at SPGPrints, said: ‘Rotary screen printing is an essential way of communicating brand quality in self-adhesive label printing, because of its unique ability to create striking effects such as the no-label look, tactile varnishes, metallic foil and vivid colors, as well as function effects like Braille or security features.
‘The SPGPrints rotary screen systems featured at Labelexpo India 2016, coupled with the local support from Stovec Industries, provide label converters a way to adopt the rotary screen process and integrate it seamlessly into their workflow for a fast return on investment. Our broad choice in printing modules, screen meshes and prepress systems means we can offer a product tailored to the application, budget and volume requirements of the printer.’
Established by SPGPrints more than 40 years ago, Stovec Industries provides technical support, training and local supply of engraved and unengraved screens laser imaging equipment and the supply of imaged and unimaged screens to label converters in India.
