Italian printer making gains with Europe’s first CDI Spark 2420
Italy’s Emmetre has reported “significant quality and productivity gains” after expanding its production with digital flexo imaging capability when it became the first European firm to install an Esko CDI Spark 2420.

Emmetre was founded in 2007 and purchased the CDI Spark 2420 earlier this year to improve the quality of its labels and to gain more efficiency in the way jobs were managed.
The company operates three production lines that include two letterpress machines, a UV flexo system, a finishing line and two lines for label quality assurance. To enhance its operations, Emmetre decided to upgrade its pre-press department with a digital system.
Moreno Berro, director and pre-press manager at Emmetre, said: ‘We are known as a flexible company, always able to quickly respond to market demands. Our investment in Esko’s CDI Spark 2420 demonstrates our high level of innovation.
‘The CDI is equipped with magnetic drum and vacuum system, and works with all the brands of digital flexo plates available on the market as well as with polyester-based digital typographical plates, or steel-based with typographical options.
‘Thanks to this solution, we can provide our customers with the confidence of knowing that they will consistently receive high-quality printed materials from us’
Berro added: ‘We saw an immediate, striking impact on our business. The CDI system enabled faster, trouble-free production flows and improved the print quality of our labels. Our customers noticed the difference immediately.’
