Design for sustainable performance

Global consumers are engaged when it comes to packaging and are only becoming more knowledgeable and more demanding when it comes to sustainability

According to the Green Brands Survey conducted by Cohn and Wolfe, global consumers are engaged when it comes to packaging and are only becoming more knowledgeable and more demanding when it comes to sustainability. The survey found that consumers in Australia, France, China, the US and India are more concerned with package recovery and recyclability than ever before. And that they are shifting purchasing decisions to weigh more on the full life cycle impact of the product they’re interested in, including its primary and secondary package such as the label.

Modern consumers have a basic understanding of what a carbon footprint is and are willing to take it into consideration when making every day decisions. UNEP’s recent Global Survey for Sustainable Lifestyles (GSSL) solicited responses from young adults (ages 18-35 in 20 countries) to reveal that the younger generation is willing to make the necessary lifestyle changes to make planet sustainability real.
