Sustainability: retailer and end-user considerations

Companies are joining forces to leverage their collective expertise to overcome sustainability challenges

A number of global CPCs, retailers, NGOs, universities, packaging and label converters, raw material and processed material suppliers have joined forces to leverage their collective expertise to overcome sustainability challenges, such as language and metric standards, locally and globally. Groups such as the International Standards Organization, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the Global Packaging Project and The Sustainability Consortium have gained acceptance quickly since 2009.

Each is working to alleviate growing concerns about potential supply chain inefficiencies arising from insufficient communication of sustainability actions by various stakeholders and a lack of common or harmonized standards.
