Apex launches anilox sleeve covers

Anilox Armor protective covers are designed to reduce damage during storage, transport and handling.

Apex International has launched Anilox Armor, a line of protective covers for anilox sleeves, available worldwide through Apex and its regional partners from March 2026.

The covers combine impact-resistant composite materials with a precision-fit, air-cushioned interior designed to absorb shock and prevent contact damage to engraved surfaces. The product is engineered specifically for Apex sleeves and rolls and resists inks, solvents and cleaning agents. Color-coded end rings allow sleeves to be quickly identified across operators and shifts.

Anilox Armor is stocked in standard sizes to fit commonly used sleeve and roll diameters, with custom sizes available on request. The product will be showcased at industry events and trade shows throughout 2026.

The launch addresses a recurring pressroom challenge: damage to precision-engraved anilox surfaces caused by routine movement and storage, which can lead to print defects, downtime and higher operating costs. Apex says the covers are compatible with both conventional engraving and its patented GTT technology.

'Anilox Armor introduces an added layer of protection that reinforces Apex's mission to help customers achieve maximum reliability and extended lifespan from their precision anilox sleeves,' said Nick Harvey, technical director at Apex International. 'We listened to what pressrooms say causes the most costly damage, and we engineered a cover that protects these critical components from impact, abrasion and environmental stress.'
