Domino launches direct-to-box inkjet printer
The Cx150i uses vegetable-oil-based ink to offer a sustainable alternative to label-based box coding.
Domino Printing Sciences has launched the Cx150i, a compact direct-to-box piezo inkjet printer designed to provide manufacturers with a sustainable and cost-effective approach to secondary packaging coding.
Aimed at food, beverage and general manufacturing businesses, the Cx150i prints directly onto porous boxes using non-toxic, vegetable-oil-based ink, eliminating the need for adhesive labels, backing liners and excess consumables. The company says the approach reduces waste, enhances recyclability and lowers total cost of ownership compared with label-based coding and older direct-to-box systems.
The printer integrates with factory MES and ERP systems via Domino Automation, while Domino Cloud enables remote monitoring and OEE visibility. It can also be paired with Domino's R-Series vision systems for end-to-end quality assurance.
'The Cx150i represents a hugely capable direct-to-box printer at an accessible price,' said David Edwards, product manager for piezo inkjet at Domino Printing Sciences. 'It offers significant cost-of-ownership savings when compared to labeling and boasts strong environmental credentials: vegetable-oil-based ink, minimal waste, and no factory air.'
