Flash4 installs HP Indigo V12 press

Wisconsin label printer launches smart label division with RFID capability.

Flash4 has installed an HP Indigo V12 digital press and an ABG Digicon finishing system at its Black River Falls, Wisconsin, facility, using the investment to launch a Smart Label Packaging Division that combines high-speed digital printing with RFID inlay application and encoding capabilities.

Founded in 1998 and now operating more than 20 presses and finishing systems, Flash4 serves Fortune 500 companies across multiple industries. The HP Indigo V12 installation is positioned as a move into industrial-scale medium and long-run digital label production, a segment the company says has historically been dominated by conventional print technologies.

The Smart Label Packaging Division will offer serialized traceability, anti-counterfeiting features, real-time supply chain visibility and RFID-enabled logistics labels alongside premium quality digital printing. RFID capability is being introduced in phases alongside the ABG automated finishing infrastructure

'Digital label printing isn't just short run any longer,' said Michael Del Chiaro, CRO of Flash4. 'We truly are one of the first to market with industrial-sized medium to long run digital label printing, a game changer in the pressure-sensitive prime label market space.'

'The combination of high-resolution digital printing, variable imaging and RFID at scale is a true market disruption,' said Dino Valentino, CEO of Flash4. 'This positions our customers and us to lead in a future where packaging is intelligent, connected and essential to business performance.'
